Grant amount: £10,000 per year
Award year: ongoing
Awarded to: RWCMD

RWCMD trains some of the most talented and promising young artists in the UK and abroad. Rising tuition fees, coupled with intensive and performance-driven training with little time for work outside of college life means that students are increasingly in need of financial support.

The Ashley Family Foundation funds an annual scholarship for a Design and Performance student at the college, as well as granting funding towards three public productions and the graduating students’ exhibition, Balance.

The college uses the exhibition which is located in Cardiff and London, to showcase the work of those students in their final year, supporting them in their search for future employment. The college invites over 1,000 industry contacts and has an extremely high success rate with between 90-100% of graduates finding employment within 6 months.

“Balance marks the transition from student to professional through an exhibition of models, costume, drawing, installation, sounds and film. The collaborative work in realising this event and transferring it from Cardiff to London is, year in year out, a testament to the students’ ability and dedication in committing their lives to making performance events.”

Sean Crowley, Director of Drama RWCMD
